Brandon Marshall: Patriotic Child or Problem Child

Brandon Marshall scored the go ahead touchdown in last nights 33-30 win over the Clevland Browns and was on the verge of making a historical statement in the sporting world that would've had many talking.. but it did anyways.

Marshall said he had a glove in his pants - half white and half black. Marshall, a big supporter of President-elect Barack Obama - said he drew inspiration from 1968 U.S. Olympic sprinters Tommie Smith and John Carlos, who raised a black glove on the medal stand. "I wanted to create that symbol of unity because Obama inspires me, our multi-cultured society," said Marshall, who read from the message he had typed out on his phone earlier in the day. "And I know at the 1968 Olympics in Mexico, Tommie Smith and John Carlos raised that black glove in that fist as a silent gesture of black power and liberation. Forty years later, I wanted to make my own statement. I wanted to make my own statement and gesture to represent the progress we made."

Iverson Now, LeBron Later??

So I know its been a while since I've blessed my readers and now that I'm back, wow.. look at what I found. In a blockbuster trade the Denver Nuggets send Allen Iverson to the Detroit Pistons for Chauncey Billups, Antonio McDyess, and Cheikh Samb. We can talk about that later, but as I was browsing thru the various news outlets I receive the information I share with yall, I landed on this article that open my eyes, and imagination to all sorts of things.

Let me lay some ground work down first & foremost.. Iverson's contract is up after this year as well as animated power foward Rasheed Wallace, which would give the Pistons about 22 million in cap room the following offseason. NOW...

Picture this.. the year is 2010, and LeBron James is now a free agent. Where could he land? New York? New Jersey/Brooklyn? LA? Miami? Nope. How about Detroit? It looks like Pistons GM, Joe Dumars is setting things up to make a run at King James, and with a squad that will have all-stars Richard Hamilton & Teyshaun Prince, as well as young up and comers Jason Maxiell, Rodney Stuckey, & Amir Johnson this team looks to be in the drivers seat in the LBJ sweepstakes.

Barack Obama's grandmother passes on the eve of election day..

This one touched my heart on a different level.

With the presidential election less than 24 hours away, democratic hopeful Barack Obama was hit with the news that his ailing grandmother, Madelyn Payne Dunham, had lost her battle to cancer earlier this morning. This hits home partly because I recently lost an uncle (RIP Uncle Johnny) to lung cancer this past July, and partly because Obama, in my opinion, is on the verge of becoming America's first black president and will not have the one form of inspiration here, in the physical, to celebrate this momentous accomplishment.

My heart goes out to you Mr. Obama, your sister, and all of your family. God bless.
