Time Out New York.. Jigga's Turn

Jay's the only rapper to make the cut for the New York 40.. I'm not going to post the entire interview for the sake of those wanting to see other posts on my blog but here's a sneek peek:
What’s your favorite place to go in New York? Not a place to be seen but a secret place.
Jay-Z: Now, I can’t do that, it won’t be a secret no more. I can give you the ones everyone knows about. Okay, okay, I’ll do it, but it’ll be the one thing I share with you guys and all of New York: Right in Cipriani’s on a Saturday, sitting outside with a nice Bellini and good conversation, there’s a shades store right around the corner that I love, walking up the block, getting me a couple pair of shades. They have all the classic shades: Ray-Bans and the Persols that I have on presently. And I’m not gonna tell you the name—they’ll walk there, they’ll see it.

Commonwealth x Stussy Olympic Tee

"In remembrance of that historic medal ceremony at the ‘68 Olympics in Mexico City, Stussy & Commonwealth hook up on yet another tee project. Capturing American athletes Tommie Smith and John Carlos throwing up that famous salute, the image caused a stir amongst the public at the time due to all the ongoing civil rights issues."

Damien Hirst [Pt. II] - 'For the Love of God'

About the For the Love of God Skull:
The Diamond covered skull by Damien Hirst is a continuation of the artist's exploration of death and the way we react to it."For the Love of God" is covered with 8,601 real diamonds and has been valued as the most expensive contemporary work of art. Hirst spent about $20 million USD to create the diamond covered work and put a price tag of $100 million USD on it.
Damien Hirst was quoted as saying "It works much better than I imagined. I was slightly worried that we'd end up with an Ali G ring." He also said, "I wouldn't mind if it happened to my skull after my death."
Update: In August 2007, it was widely reported that Damien Hirst sold "For the Love of God" to an investment group for $100 million USD or about 50 million pounds. Hirst is said to own a percentage of the diamond skull, but it was not reported how much he still owns. The buyers will be expected to exhibit the work for the next two to three years at museums around the world. The BBC reported that the investors planned to resell the work at a later date. This would make "For the Love of God" the most expensive work of art ever to sell by a living artist.

Damien Hirst [Pt. I] - 'Virgin Mother'

Destination: East 53rd Street & Park Avenue [by the Lever House restaurant], sits Damien Hirst's 'Virgin Mother' statue. This has to be some of the best artwork I've ever seen. It's a 30 foot statue that not only is eye-catching, but educational as well. If you're ever in the city, check it out.. like the title says, this is just part one.
Wait til you see what's next..

If It Doesn't Fit, You Must Acquit.. Pt. II??
As Orenthal James Simpson prepares to face yet another trial that could potentially land him in jail for life, much of the talk now is focused on the influence [or lack thereof] the African-American community will have on this trial. Personally, I think the miracle Johnnie Cochran pulled off in 1995 can never, and will never, be matched again so it looks like the only running 'The Juice' will be doing is in & out of cell blocks.
This latest trial has begun and to the defenses surprise the jury [made up of 9 women & 3 men] does not contain a single person of African-American decent. Is this a conspiracy theory or just a coincidence?? You tell me..

“It’s just one more win. I don’t give a [shit] how we do it, as long as we get it done. Did I say [shit]? I’m sorry.”
“They call me the Big Sewer because I have a lot of shit in my game.”
“I think the new ball is terrible. It’s the worst decision some expert, whoever did it, made. It’s terrible. It’s like touching an exotic dancer and then going and touching a plastic blow-up doll. You know, it feels different.” [Referring to the new basketball instituted by the NBA, that was removed mid-season]
“Me having a beautiful wife and great family and friends around me, all the money I’ve got, all the things that I’ve got, a Ferrari that I just ripped the top off of and turned into a convertible, the rings I got, the two mansions on the water, a master’s in criminal justice, I’m a cop, plus I look good. So me shooting 40 percent at the foul line is just God’s way of saying that nobody’s perfect. If I shot 90 percent from the line, it just wouldn’t be right.”
“I wouldn’t. I would just go home. I’d fake an injury or something.” [When asked how he would defend against himself]
At the end of the day not only is Shaq O'Neal the NBA's version of Superman, but he's America's as well. We're gonna miss you big dog.
